About Us
Hi, we are brothers Mitch and Gary Brandt and we build "solar" dog homes. Growing up on a farm in Northern Minnesota (5 miles from Canadian border) and playing hockey on outdoor rinks we have a great appreciation of the sun’s warmth and being out of the wind. Our dogs (pets) really tell us what they like with their body language. Observing Mitch’s beagle, Maggie, inside its master’s home, we found her following the sun’s movement during the day to position herself directly in sun’s warmth coming through the windows. She would also sit on a chair to be able to see out the window. Recognizing those characteristics as being innate, “natural instincts,” we built an outdoor Solar Home with lots of windows for visibility and trapping heat.
3/4" Styrofoam is sandwiched between sheets of cedar. The cedar sheeting is glued and stapled to the facing.
The insulated components are assembled to make the Den.
