Solar Unit: The solar unit uses polycarbonate attached to an all cedar frame to capture the sun’s heat.  The floor and the back has ¾” Styrofoam insulation sandwiched between two sheets of cedar sheeting to provide for insulation against cold and heat.  The lid can easily be removed for cleaning or repositioned to create an air convection current with air brought in through the vented front panel and exhausted out the roof ridge vent.

Den: The den is constructed of ¾” Styrofoam insulation sandwiched between two sheets of cedar sheeting where it comes in contact with the pet or is exposed to the weather elements.  Cedar was chosen because it is a natural deterrent to fleas and ticks, it is aesthetically pleasing and it weathers well.  The roof is repositionable to allow for venting or completely removable for viewing or cleaning.  Unless otherwise requested, the exterior sheeting will be sealed with clear sealer.

Cleaning Pan: A pan sized to fit snugly inside the solar or den helps to keep the floor clean when wood chips are used.  This is especially helpful during whelping.  The rectangular pan has a 1” lip with a hemmed top and soldered corners and is constructed of 24 gauge galvanized steel sheeting. 

Reflective Cover: Snapped on the solar lid, the cover reflects the sun’s rays to help keep the interior cooler during the warm days of spring and fall.  A strong 14 by 14 criss-cross mesh of 1000 denier nylon threads are laminated between two layers of tough, reflective sliver-gray polyethylene.  It is treated for maximum protection against UV rays and will not rot or mildew. 

K9 Kozy: The quilted blanket snaps onto the upper front and back inside the den.  As it drapes down over your pet when it lies down, your pet’s body heat is trapped giving it both physical and psychological security.  

Name Plate: Made from a weather resistant Flexi-Brass with laser writing, the nameplate has self-adhesive tape for adhering to the polycarbonate or it may be attached with screws to the cedar.  It is available in a variety of colors with either black or white lettering.  Two sizes are available: 3” x 5” for $10.00 or 4” ax 6” for $12.85.
